This is not what you think.
Revolt [ri-vohlt] : (v) casting off allegiance or subjection to the status quo; breaking away from or rising against all injustice and living towards love, justice and Jesus. (n) the act of revolting, an active expression or movement of spirited protest towards love and Love Himself.I love that revolt is both noun and verb because the premise of revolt is so much more than a revolution. Before long, it becomes clear that both the noun and the verb of revolt can and should happen simultaneously. When we speak of revolution, it is usually a thing of the past histories. However, revolt as noun and verb is something that is ongoing, is daily and is manifested through the positive action.
But this revolt is not about overthrowing governing might or dodgy leadership.
This revolt is about love. After all, love is the only thing that has ever sustained the test of time. Where hatred, slavery, oppression and fear may last for a season, these things always succumb to life, to mercy and to love. Our world is against a lot of things. We protest against a lot of things. But, we hardly ever are toward a cause or an ideology. So this is a revolt towards. Towards love. Community. Each other. Towards poverty and the "least of these". Towards the dying and hurting. Towards the strangers. The marginalized. Towards the have-beens and the have-nots. Towards peace and non-violence. Towards spirituality and the spirit within. Towards the poor and orphaned.
And ultimately towards Jesus. This is a revolt towards love; a revolt towards a new way of living.
